Vendor Directory

We are going to maintain a directory of vendors who are involved in the communicty to provide a service. People who use these vendors will provide feed back on the service provided and this information will be available for everyone to see. Similar to what is done to see feed back about hotels and restaurants.

Initial list of service vendors - This list will expand and contract as we gain experience. Let the buyer beware. Just because we have had good luck with these vendor in the past does not mean that they will be able to continue to perform in the future or that they will excel at all projects .

List of Vendors

Feedback by service vendor.

Criteria includes reliability (do what they say they will do), quality of work and cost.

We will add an evaluation facility where people will share their experience with others to use the power of the community to encourage vendors to perform. This will be similar to services that are used to evaluate restaurants and hotels.

Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection issues guidelines and follows up on complaints to assure a high level of vendor performance.

Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection

The following advise is from the Department of Consumer Protection, "At the On our website, www.ct.gov/dcp , you can verify if a contractor is registered.  If the contractor is not listed there that should be as far as you go with them since is a criminal violation not to be registered.  If they are registered then you can check out if there are complaints against them.  That should give you some indication as to how they operate their business.  After that the consumer should use their due diligence to ask for references, see how long they have been in business etc. to check them out.  You can also direct consumers to our home improvement section on our website to read the booklet on contractors to see what should be in a contract, what a good payment schedule should be like etc.  Consumers can also get information from out consumer hotline at 1-800-842-2649 or the home improvement line at 860-713-6110."
